Visit Us

The Charles Sturt Museum is dedicated to the life and expeditions of Captain Charles Sturt. Our museum features captivating exhibits, engaging tours and  events that bring the past to life. Through our extensive collection of historical artifacts and documents, we aim to make the history of Captain Sturt and his historical family home The Grange accessible and engaging for visitors of all ages.

Opening Hours

We are open on the first and third Sundays of every month.

 

2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Entry is $12 for adults and $10 for Seniors & Concession card holders and children under 12.

$5 for children under 12.

Location

39 D Jetty Street, Grange SA 5022  adjacent to Grange Primary School.

You can easily reach us via Metro Bus routes 110  with Stop 29

located on Frederick Road,

or take the train to East Grange Station just a short walk away.

Tour the historical house and gardens

Explore the historical home of Charles Sturt, The Grange. This charming residence, where Sturt lived with his family, offers a glimpse into the past and the life of one Australia's most renowned explorers. Visitors can enjoy guided tours that delve into the rich history of the home, as well as the stunning gardens and parkland that surround the precinct.

Over the last 4 years, the private garden area of the Museum has been slowly resurrected to reflect the horticultural endeavours of Charles Sturt. Experience the tranquility beauty of this significant site while immersing yourself in its fascinating stories.

Preservation Efforts

Access to our Archive Collection is by appointment only.
